Cheap Brake Repairs Can Cost You More
Cheap brake repairs are a growing issue in the auto service industry. Here’s how you can protect yourself.
A dead battery leaves you stranded, often at the worst possible moment. At 4 Aces Auto Centre, we test your battery in minutes, replace it while you wait, and check the entire charging system to make sure the problem doesn’t return.
Most automotive batteries last 3 to 5 years in Ontario’s climate. Cold winters are particularly hard on batteries – at -18°C, battery capacity drops by up to 35%. That is why a battery that seems fine in summer can fail to start the car on the first cold morning of November.
We recommend a free battery test every fall, before temperatures drop as part of your winter vehicle prep.

A completely dead battery won’t crank the engine at all. A weak battery cranks slowly, especially in cold weather. Dim headlights, electrical glitches, and needing repeated jump starts are all signs of a failing battery. A 5-minute test at 4 Aces will give you a definitive answer.
Standard battery replacement at 4 Aces typically runs $180–$290 for most vehicles, including parts and labour. AGM batteries (required by many 2015+ European vehicles and stop-start systems) cost $260–$420. All batteries include a 2-year warranty.
For most North American vehicles (Honda, Toyota, Subaru, domestic brands), no programming is required – just a straightforward replacement. For BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and many newer GM and Ford vehicles, a battery registration is required. We handle this in-house.
Common causes of overnight battery drain include: a failing alternator not fully recharging the battery while driving, a parasitic draw from a relay, module, or accessory left on, corroded terminals creating resistance, or a battery that has simply worn out. We diagnose parasitic draws as part of our charging system inspection.
That’s why 4 Aces Auto makes it easy to stay ahead of battery issues with straightforward testing and honest advice. If your vehicle is slow to start or your battery light is on, contact 4 Aces Auto for reliable battery service near you.
We use a digital battery analyser to measure cold cranking amps (CCA), state of charge, state of health, and internal resistance. The test takes under 5 minutes and tells you exactly how much life your battery has remaining, not just whether it holds charge right now.
We stock batteries covering most passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks. All batteries are installed with terminals torqued to spec. For vehicles that require it, we also reset the battery management system (BMS) as part of the installation.
A new battery won't survive long if the charging system isn't working correctly. A failing alternator or corroded cable can drain a new battery within days. Our charging system inspection covers: alternator output voltage, voltage regulator, battery cables and clamps, ground connections, and starter draw.
Corroded terminals create electrical resistance, prevent proper charging, and can cause starting problems even with a healthy battery. We clean terminals with the correct tool, apply anti-corrosion compound, and ensure all connections are solid.
Many BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and newer GM and Ford vehicles require a battery registration or reset after replacement. Without it, the vehicle's battery management system will continue charging the old battery's profile - shortening the new battery's life. We perform this procedure in-house; no dealer visit required.
